Teeth Whitening

Healthy teeth often get darker with age or stains when consuming certain foods such as coffee and red wine or even whilst smoking. This can be treated with a tooth whitening procedure which is safe and efficient.

There are two types of Tooth Whitening Procedure:

Surgery Whitening

Its never too late to look and feel better about yourself with a whiter, healthier, and more confident smile. one of the first things you notice about people is their smile.

When you meet someone with a bright, natural smile, its something we all notice. However, over time, aging process and your lifestyle (smoking or drinking coffee, tea, or wine) can stain or make your teeth look less than bright and healthy.

To get your smile back to looking its best, you should choose a whitening method that is customized for your teeth, because not everyone responds in the same way

Uses the lowest necessary concentration of active ingredient (hydrogen peroxide) to achieve the maximum results
Administered by a dentist
Achieves the longest-lasting results

This treatment is quick (around one hour) and is performed by a dentist. This will bring your teeth to their ultimate natural whiteness. Keep in mind that if you want the “Hollywood” white smile you may rather consider porcelain veneers.

For optimum results we do recommend patients to use custom whitening trays to supplement the power whitening. These trays can also be used to maintain whiteness over many years.

Home Tooth Whitening.

This is done at home, for an average of 10 -14 days with the aid of tooth whitening trays and gel. You get the same end result with both procedures but the home whitening takes longer and some patients find it inconvenient - sometimes it is necessary to use a combination of the two

Step 1
Brush teeth. Load tray with gel as shown.

Step 2
Place tray in mouth. Gently press tray to move gel into place. Pressing too firmly will force gel out of tray.

Step 3
Gently wipe off excess gel with a toothbrush or clean, moist finger. Rinse thoroughly with water twice.

A dental examination is required before tooth whitening to ensure there are no dental problems.

Very often a dental hygiene visit is also required to remove any stains and deposits on the teeth to maximise tooth whitening results.

Before the procedure we will need to check to ensure you have healthy teeth and gums. Any condition preventing your dentist from carrying out the procedure will then be explained to you.
Impressions are taken to make whitening trays to assist with the home and top up procedures.
The gel breaks up into oxygen and water. The oxygen acts as an oxidising agent, lifting the stains within the tooth.
Sensitivity is a normal feature of the tooth whitening process and usually only lasts for the duration of the treatment and for a couple of days afterwards.
Tooth whitening will not change the colour of existing crown and bridge work or existing fillings. These may need changing if they are in an aesthetic area.
Tooth whitening procedure works at different rates for different people and it is not possible to accurately predict the outcome.
